It's totally crazy when you think about it: there are 222 million women worldwide that do not want to have children, yet they lack access to contraception. In the U.S. alone, 50% of pregnancies are unplanned, and only 21% of single women use condoms regularly.
The result? One increasingly overcrowded planet. Our global population is growing at an unsustainable rate, and recent reports have shown that CO2 emissions could be reduced by up to 30% if we slow population growth. Part of the way we can do that is by making sure all women have access to affordable contraception.
We've used children's toys in the images below to spell out some of the powerful statistics highlighting the link between overpopulation and climate change.
