As a millennial woman who got her start in the industry selling eco-friendly condoms, I’ve been telling it like it is, and screaming “Vagina!” from the rooftops for years. Over the last five years I’ve witnessed a seismic – and positive – shift in the reaction I get when I tell people what I do for a living. In addition to witnessing women speak up, stand up, and fight for their sexual and reproductive health, I’ve been completely in awe of how women are also starting to rethink everything they put inside their vaginas.
This week marks a really exciting step for Sustain with the launch of our most sustainable period solution yet: The Sustain Period Cup. Some of you may be thinking: It’s about bloody time - and to be honest, I agree. As the most sustainable, vagina-friendly brand out there, many, including myself, felt like we should have launched a period cup years ago.
The truth is, we’ve been working on this product for years. We spent the last year and a half working on development - we knew we wouldn’t have the first cup on the market, so it was critical that what we put into the world was an improvement on what came before us.
Which brings us to the Sustain Period Cup: it’s super soft, flexible, and has a nice long stem which was really helpful for me as a new cup user. It’s funny, even when we started working on this project a part of me thought: Hmm... I’m just not sure I’m a cup kinda girl. I mean, I’m comfortable with my own body and all, but I’m just not sure I want to get all up inside myself on the daily and get to know my flow on that level. But as we started doing research, working with consultants and bringing our design to life, I realized that in order to deliver the best product possible, I would need to become a ‘cup girl.’ And so, I am happy to report that I have now officially added the period cup to my product line up, and I hope you will too.
Until next cycle,
